junior national league

Since 2007 season NASSA has expanded to eight national league teams encompassing 13 – 18 year olds.  Junior national league is the first stepping stone from community basketball to the athlete development pathway. It is the young person’s first chance to come up against the challenges that the game will provide and then in turn the first opportunity to really see the parallels between the game and life. Basketball at this level teaches them to manage their diary, time keeping, self-discipline, listen to others and communicate within a team, amongst other key attributes.

The outcomes of competitive basketball we have witnessed are increased self-confidence, a sense of empowerment and a belonging as well as creating an outlet for young people’s external frustrations.

NASSA provides its young people with something very special – through contact with our highly successful and professional coaches these young people are exposed to all the components that you would want for a child. A NASSA coach is a mentor, a teacher, a coach and for some a parent to provide guidance on life at school and on the streets.
